VYEPTI works by blocking calcitonin gene-related peptide, or CGRP, a substance in your brain that is thought to play a role in triggering migraine.
VYEPTI was designed to be given as an intravenous (IV) treatment so 100% of the medication would be available in the bloodstream to quickly start working.
VYEPTI is given by IV every 3 months. Studies show that people taking VYEPTI continued to have fewer migraine days throughout the duration of the study.
The most common side effects of VYEPTI include stuffy nose and scratchy throat, and allergic reactions. These are not all the possible side effects of VYEPTI. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. Please see Important Safety Information below.
Talk to your healthcare provider about any other medications you may be taking.
Before you use VYEPTI, tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, or you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
VYEPTI is a medication that can be prescribed by any authorized healthcare provider, although your primary healthcare provider may refer you to a neurologist or headache specialist for migraine treatment.
To see if VYEPTI migraine prevention for adults might be right for you, review these questions to help get the conversation started with your healthcare provider.
If your healthcare professional has prescribed and ordered VYEPTI directly, you’re all set and you just need to set up your infusion appointment. If your healthcare professional has prescribed and ordered VYEPTI through a specialty pharmacy, there are three steps you need to complete to ensure your prescription is filled and shipped. The specialty pharmacy is sometimes used to fill and ship prescriptions to your infusion location.
Drink plenty of water, get a good night’s sleep, and make sure you know how to get to your infusion location. On the day of your treatment, wear a shirt or sweater with sleeves loose enough to roll up above your elbows.
See what to expect before, during, and after your first appointment
VYEPTI is given as a 30-minute IV treatment every 3 months. Actual appointment lengths may vary. Talk to your healthcare provider about what to expect before, during, and after treatment. Always report any side effects you may experience.
Some people in the VYEPTI clinical studies had migraine on the day they received treatment. If you have been prescribed VYEPTI, and have a migraine on the day of your scheduled VYEPTI infusion, talk with your healthcare provider.
